¡¡Gyeongbok Palace
Established in 1395, Gyeongbok Palace is also called ¡°Northern Palace¡± because it is located more toward the north compared to Changdeok Palace (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghee Palace (Western Palace). Gyeongbok Palace (No.117 Historical Number) prides itself for having the largest magnitude and being the most beautiful among the 5 other palaces. In the Gyeongbok Palace, the most representative edifices of the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeonghoe-ru Pavilion and Hyangwonjeong Pond still remain. Woldae and sculptures of Geunjeongjeon (The Royal Audience Chamber) represent the past sculpture art which was the trend back then. The National Palace Museum of Korea is located south of Heungnyemun Gate, and the National Folk Museum is located east within Hyangwonjeong.

 

 

¡¡Namsangol Traditional Village
In the place where the Village of Traditional Houses now stands, Pil-dong area at the northern foot of Mt. Namsan, crystal clear streams flowed and the Cheonu-gak Pavillion once stood, making it a popular summer resort area during the Joseon dynasty. In order to recreate the beauty of the ancient times, a traditional Korean garden, through which flows a stream, with a pavilion in the woods were constructed. Five traditional Korean houses, including houses of commoners, and the residences of high government officials- owners of the eight largest mansions in Seoul- were moved onto a 7,934 square-meter lot of land.
 
 
¡¡Namdaemun Market

As Korea¡¯s largest and oldest traditional market, Namdaemun is a barometer of Seoul¡¯s economic situation and where Seoulites can comparison shop for the lowest prices on all sorts of goods. It is also a world-famous shopping paradise and an attraction that tourists should not miss. At Namdaemun, a great deal of effort has been made to foster a tourist-friendly atmosphere. Information is available for local residents and tourists and free interpretation services (both in English and in Japanese) are readily offered to foreign tourists. It is filled with over 1,000 shops, stalls, retailers, street vendors, and has several department stores nearby.

 

 

¡¡Cheonggyecheon Stream
Cheonggyecheon Stream used to exist merely as an overpass forgotten in 1970 until it was restored in 2005, becoming a haven of natural beauty amidst the bustle of city life. Narae Bridge, expressing a butterfly in flight, and Gwanggyo Bridge, symbolizing the harmony of the past and future, are only 2 of more than 20 beautiful bridges that are laid throughout the path of the stream. The ¡®Rhythmic Wall Stream¡¯, lined with fine marble, various sculptures, and Korea¡¯s 8th stonebuilding, Palseokdam, adorn the Cheonggyecheon Stream.Furthermore, the Deoksugung Palace, Seoul Plaza, the Sejong Center, Insa-dong Street, the Changdeokgung Palace, and the Changgyeonggung Palace all lie adjacent to the Cheonggyecheon Stream, allowing visitors to easily visit the tourism sites after a leisurely stroll along the stream.
